Sea Turtle Hatchlings

Sea Turtles will first break open their shell with a temporary tooth only present at hatch time. The turtles will then dig their way out of the sand and begin to make their way to the ocean. They may be able to tell where the ocean is by having an internal compass but this is just a theory. The turtles will dive into a wave and ride the undertow out to sea. This process usually accrues at night when sea predators are less active. Their may be 50-200 sea turtles in one nest, depending on species. This story was inspired by watching sea turtles hatch on the beach in Florida.

Endangered Animals:Ethiopian Wolf

The Ethiopian wolf is the most threatened canid in the world and the only wolf species to be found in Africa . It is generally similar to a coyote in shape and size, and has characteristically long legs and a long, pointed muzzle. The fur is a bright tawny red colour, with whitish to ginger underfur, the underparts, chin, chest and the inside of the pointed ears are white, and the bushy tail is black . Females become more yellowish during the breeding season, and juveniles have a charcoal-grey coat . Males tend to be around 20 percent larger than females . The narrow muzzle and widely-spaced small teeth are adaptations that help this wolf to handle small prey items. Ethiopian wolves live in close-knit territorial packs numbering between 3 and 13 adults, but individual pack members tend to forage alone. As its name suggests, this wolf is endemic to the Ethiopian mountains between 3,000 and 4,377 metres above sea level.

Endangered Animals: Bay Cat

The Bornean Bay Cat is as its name suggest only found in Borneo and is rare. The bay cat has been reported to grow up to 2 feet in length and has a tail measuring a little over half its body length. The base fur colouration is chestnut brown although grey specimens are also known - the legs and undersides are faintly spotted and there are white markings on the head and chin of the animal. The tail also has white markings toward the end and is terminated in a black tip. In appearance it is reported to resemble Temminck's Golden Cat and genetic analysis is known to support this association to the degree that some suggest that it should be classified as a sub-species of the Golden Cat. The bay cat is thought to live mainly in the dense forested regions of Borneo and is possible associated with habitats close to water. Because of its rarity little is known of the lifestyle on this cat.

Animal Book Sequel

A Dog's Journey
By W. Bruce Cameron
A Dog's Journey is another great book. It is one of the rare cases where the sequel is as good as the first. Buddy becomes Molly and has to protect CJ, a girl who is quite a handful. This story has so many emotions and will have you gasping. Once you pick it up it will be hard to set it down. A great story for many readers. It is funny looking into a dog's mind, W. Bruce Cameron makes it seem so realistic!!

Zebra Crazy!

Zebras live in herds. People don't know why they have their stripes, but here are some theories: 1. It's a camouflage because it may be hard for a predator to scope out one animal 2. It may act as a natural sunscreen 3. Some insects may look for one wide color of fur to attack.
Zebras are mammals. Their average live span is 25 years. They grow to 3.5-5 feet tall. They weigh about 440 to 990 pounds. Zebras are herbivores meaning they only eat plants.

R.I.P. Luigi

He was the best hamster in the world, I loved him so much. He was really old and I got to spend the last minutes with him. He was so cute and had a great personality. He used to climb to the top of his cage like monkey bars. He survied mites, wet tail, and the everyday risk of the cat and dog. He died today 9-8-12. Rest in peace.
Donna the Hippo

Her in her home at Mesker Zoo
Donna the hippo living in Mesker Park Zoo will have to be Euthanized tomorrow (Aug, 1 2012). She was the oldest living hippo in captivity and maybe the world. She has lived to the age 61 most hippos live to be in the upper 40's or the lower 50's. She has not gotten out of her water for 6 months, not even for her favorite treat. It is a sad day for me because I live in Evansville and have visited her many times, and me knowing her and being an animal lover this makes me sad.
Why do Animals have tails?

Animals have tails:
1. To show emotion and expression
2. For balance
3. To swat flies of their backs
4. Sometimes animals also use their tails for warmth.

Why do dogs roll in smelly things?

Well dogs natural scent is really stinky, so you need to give them a bath about once a month so the smell doesn't get out of hand. The rub in smelly stuff like rotten eggs because when the hunt in the wild they try to mask their scent and unfortunately bad smelling stuff is some of the strongest smells. That trait is carried to our
pets today.
pets today.
Do dogs and cats have blood types?

Yes, dogs and cats have blood types. Dogs have DEA 1.1, 1.2, 3, 4, 5, or 7. Cats have A, B, or AB blood types. Dogs can receive mismatched blood types and survive unlike humans or cats who would likely die. This is because dogs blood is VERY different from humans. You cannot mix blood between species.
Do animals talk to each other?

Cat: Hey Bill what's up?
Bill: Nothing
Yes, animals communicate with each other but they don't "talk" to each other. Animals will communicate with different animals by body position, some sounds, smells, and more. Skunks use smell. Birds use sound. Dogs use position. And some animals use taste. I believe animals haven't done this because they have no more use in language than to signal other animals.
How to get rid of Fleas

Put 1/2 to 1 cup of water in a low-edged container like a pie pan. Mix in just a squirt of detergent. Put under a source of light/heat. The fleas are drawn to light so they jump to the light but fall into the water. The detergent makes them slippery so they can't escape. They can't swim so they drown. Try this in different locations for several nights and it should work.

Global Warming Warning!

We humans are melting this polar bear's home and destroying ours. By littering, we hurt and break the atmosphere and that causes powerful rays of sun to come through. For one thing, it makes us have temperatures in the 100s. It also melts the ice in our world. Ice plays an important part: it reflects sun rays and regulates the temperature of earth. Without ice we have ocean, and ocean ABSORBS heat, so that makes it REALLY hot out. By you and your friends all picking up only 3 pieces of trash a day we can change our world.

ANIMAL CHRISTMAS IN JULY!
Dog Saves the Day!

A woman was covering her plants with a tarp so it wouldn't freeze. Her family wasn't home, only her dog. She had a bunch of sweaters and coats on. As she was walking back inside a HUGE gust of wind knocked her off balance and she fell into the deep end of her pool. She couldn't swim! And she had all those clothes holding her down. She might drown, on Christmas! Her dog jumped in and was barking frantically. The woman grabbed hold of the dogs tail. The dog was carrying about 127 pound of weight. That was three times her size! She told her family and always remembers how her dog saved Christmas.
HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY

Happy 4th of July to everyone and every animal! Get into the mood like this dog. Great spirit Fido! Today humans and animals celebrate in the colors of RED, WHITE, and BLUE. So don't be surprised if you hear an excited bark, meow, or chirp, or whatever noise your animals make. Happy 4th!

These are HIGHLY dangerous animals. They all are bigger than humans, have tusks, and get VERY grumpy. These animals are responsible for more deaths a year than sharks, tigers, and lions combined! Elephants come in angry mobs, rhino charge you, and hippos attack you from underwater. You definitely don't want to tango with THIS danger!

Endangered Animals
We cause so many species of animals to almost be knocked off the earth so please help and donate to an organization to save animals today. Help them because on that list are rare, beautiful, animals like pandas, polar bears, bald eagles, tigers, and so many more. Help them out.
The Hunt

Wolves hunt together in groups called packs. They use speed, strength, and numbers to tackle prey such as moose or deer. Depending on what type they are they can live in cold or hot climates. The pack always stays together and wolves mate for life. These animals are so close to us since people own dogs everyday and wolves are their ancestors . Wolves are much like humans in some ways.
